End of Season Musings........

The days may not be so bright and balmy—yet the quiet and melancholy that linger around them is fraught with glory. Over everything connected with autumn there lingers some golden spell—some unseen influence that penetrates the soul with its mysterious power. ~Northern Advocate
I love this gnarled old tree trunk

Heavenward....a lovely blue sky

Well, here it is almost the end of October. Hard to believe........
the flowerbeds are getting ready for a long winter rest as are the trees. While I was preparing for a frost, I took 4 potted plants inside. I brought a critter in with them. Can we find it???? No!! Can my husband, myself and the cats hear it squawking???? Oh yea! It's kind of driving me crazy.......it's been here a couple of weeks......just when I think it must have died we hear it again....has to be burrowed down in a pot......I do feel bad for it and would hustle it outside if I could......

Glorious Maple Leaves

It's so lovely out this time of year. The sights, sounds and smells......I've heard so many say you need to go to the mountains to enjoy the foliage.......not so! It is so beautiful here this time of year. There are trees so ablaze they nearly take my breath away. The wild Asters are blooming all over the wild landscape. There are clouds of them swaying in the breeze. Pumpkins, cornstalks, Bittersweet wreaths.......

Lovely Autumn Morning

Poor Little Salidago

Yep, It Keeps on Keepin' On!

Here's what I'm grateful for today: After having no full-time work for almost 3 years Andy now has a wonderful full-time job! On top of that, the company I do elder care for asked me if I was interested in working 30 hours a week in the office! If any of you are "up there" in age and feeling like there's nothing for you in the job market, don't give up hope! God has done it for us and He'll do it for you!

Now on to Spring gardening dreams!

Update: We found the critter....I should say the cats did. It was a little bitty tree frog with a big voice. I managed to take it from Jake and Idgie before they did any damage and now it's back outside where it belongs.

Hi Flower Freak,
I am so glad that you found your critter, the tree frog, and got it outside. I always catch spiders and insects in tissue and put them outside.

We have another few things in common, too, like our Christian faith, and the fact that our parents didn't garden much, but our neighbors did. Our next door neighbor lady didn't have us garden with her, but she let us eat her raspberries that were on the alley side of the fence. I remember my dad making some remark about her compost pile one time. The let her plant flowers in the area between our driveways.

I'm glad you didn't get too much damage from Sandy. Have you gotten the branches and such cleaned up yet?

Oh, and I'm glad your husband got a job, and you are getting those office hours.

Hi Sue,
The yard looks great now. The storm left a thick carpet of live leaves all over everything but Andy went over the lawn and it looks great. It does bother him that I won't let him get the leaves out of the flowerbed! They need a winter blanket but sometimes his desire for neatness takes over.....
Unfortunately, Andy's job has been postponed til the first of the year.I'm so glad that God is in control. He has promised to take care of us and I'm leanin' in Him!
Thanks for your interest, Sue. I'm probably going to do one more post and sign off til spring but I'll catch you then. Have a great Thanksgiving and Christmas. God Bless, Sally

Nelson,
Thanks so much for visiting my blog and commenting. I took a quick look at your blog and am amazed at your creativity! You've created a Garden of Eden. Are you as awed as I am over this "gift" of loving to garden? God is our provider!
