October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came -
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.
~George Cooper, "October's Party"
This Spiderwort was a surprise. I cut them back a while ago because they were so nasty looking and this is my reward.
How could I post without adding a pic of my pride and joy.....Hydrangea. I don't know the formal name. It seeded from my grandmother's Hydrangea and that was full grown back in the 50's.
Holly growing in our wooded lot. Has anyone ever seen a Holly Tree grove? I saw one once in my life....as an adult. I had no idea the trees grew so big! It felt enchanted and I was in awe......
Mums that start out yellow and fade over time. They are flopping because I forgot to give them their late spring clipping.
Lovely Asters that are also drooping because....well, see caption above!
These annuals keep going and going. No frost yet.....
The Cleome is amazing me. I never expected it to bloom for so long.
The native Asters are fading. Can you see the bee in the lower left corner?
Achillea Ptarmica or Sneezewort! I was pretty sure I'd planted Yarrow but when these came up I was perplexed. Low and behold, they are Yarrow but certainly don't look like the Yarrow I was expecting.
A Gaura that I bought on markdown a few months ago. It's pretty happy to be out of the pot and able to spread it's roots.
